Develop at Ubisoft

As a part of Develop at Ubisoft, I was paired with a Level Designer to complete a project from Design Goals to Pitch to Prototype.

Level Design

November 2023 - March 2024
Raid Location that works with Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
- Creating Design Goals.
- Researching historical towns.
- Feature Analysis on Raid Locations.
- Pitching the Location.
- Creating a prototype using Unreal Engine.

Design Goals

The first stage was to set what I wanted from the project and what I was aiming for. I set out any research I had done and any locations I was thinking of setting a Raid Location. As Assassin's Creed Valhalla is set in real life europe, research was key as a part of this stage. Making sure any ideas I had would be viable with the time and location that the game was set. 

Pitch

Created a pitch to go in depth about the location and the features within the Raid Location. Also explaining any theming and also the difficulty for the raid location such as Power Level (Ideal Player Level for the area) and number of Objectives. A breakdown of the map was created to show placements, approaches and bottlenecks. In order to showcase how a player would play the levels several walkthroughs were created.

Prototype

The final stage of the project was a prototype using the Unreal Engine which I then presented. The prototype followed the map that I created during the previous stage yet by creating it in engine, changes were made to spacing to allow for the character to move between buildings.
